The Hopi School

The-Hopi-School

"A flower grows best in its own plot of earth."

The Hopi school is working to develop an educational process that is derived from Hopi rather than imposed from the outside. With Hopi strengths in the arts, that is an obvious place to start. For more information, please visit http://www.hopischool.net/

Past Projects

rainbow-bar

Hopi Thrival Initiative Co-directors Mary Boles and Sandra Cosentino have been coordinating service projects and gifting programs at Hopi for more than a decade. Below is just a sampling of some of the wonderful projects they have facilitated.

hopi-wood-hauling.jpgWood Hauling Project Winter 2011
Mary Boles organized a winter wood run to Hopi to haul pallets of pine and cedar purchased with donations. The cedar is used in ceremony.

Mary says: "It is so wonderful to brighten their world and let them know that they are not forgotten. My friend Janice called and said her 60 year old widowed neighbor kept going out on the front porch to look at the wood that we gave to her. She couldn't believe it.
BELIEVE! "

We welcome help from locals with pick up trucks/trailers to volunteer this coming winter.

Mary Boles has been hauling coal for Hopi elders for many years. If you are local and want to help her with this over the winter, please let us know.

 Hopi Winter/Holiday Gifting Program
now in its 13th year

Sandra has been coordinating the Hopi Holiday Project since 1999. Each year at holiday time many generous donors and volunteers come together to bring food, clothing and other needed items up to Hopi to help warm the hearts, souls and bones of our Hopi friends during the harsh Hopi winter. hopi-holiday-project-van-lorinda
